Barren County Schools

Healthy Spaces, Tobacco-Free Places

Tobacco-free campuses are essential for promoting the health and well-being of all students, faculty, and staff. The use of tobacco and all such products is prohibited at all times and by all persons on Barren County School property, including all campuses, buses, and school vehicles. By eliminating tobacco product use, we can provide a cleaner, healthier environment where everyone can thrive. Tobacco-free policies reduce exposure to secondhand smoke, which is a significant health risk even for non-smokers, and help prevent the initiation of tobacco use among young adults. Additionally, tobacco-free campuses supports those trying to quit by removing triggers and promoting a culture of wellness. Beyond health, such policies also enhance the overall learning experience, fostering an atmosphere where individuals can focus on their education and personal growth without the distractions and dangers associated with tobacco. Ultimately, being tobacco-free is a step toward creating a community that values and prioritizes the long-term health and success of all its members.
